Wilson: Ravens, others interested in Kevin Walter

Post by St Louis Rams jerseys
The Baltimore Ravens have been impressed with steady Houston Texans wide receiver Kevin Walter(notes), according to multiple league sources.
Enough so that they may make a run at Walter.
No deal is in the works at this point, but there is legitimate interest.
The Ravens are expected to face competition for Walter from several teams, including the Cleveland Browns, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New England Patriots and the Jacksonville Jaguars.
We’ve been told that nothing is expected to happen immediately in regards to Walter.
Walter has the requisite size at 6-foot-3, 218 pounds with sound hands and blocking ability.
He’s not regarded as an ideal featured wideout since he doesn’t have outstanding speed, but he’s able to get open and is reliable and has gotten deep on occasion while playing opposite Pro Bowl wide receiver Andre Johnson(notes).
Walter could upgrade the Ravens’ receiving corps with Baltimore still looking for more reinforcements via the draft or free agency.
“I think we’ve still got the same type of anticipation that we would have before any free agent period,” Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome said Thursday in a telephone interview while speaking generally about free agency. “We’re bound by the Final Eight plan, we’re limited in what we can do. If there’s an opportunity for us to improve our football team, and I believe that there is, then I think we can still do it.”
