Leinart: ‘I’m Not Really Worried about Anything’

Post by Oakland Raiders jerseys
Cardinals QB Matt Leinart(notes), now the team’s starter with the retirement of Kurt Warner(notes), says he knows it’s now or never for him, even though the team might sign a veteran like Jake Delhomme(notes) or Derek Anderson(notes) to compete for the job.
"It’s my time and I know that," Leinart told KTAR-AM. "I’m working my butt off to get ready. … Competition makes you better, I’m aware of that. To be honest with you, I’m not really worried about anything. I don’t know if that’s cockiness or not. I’m confident that I can do it. I’ve been in the system for three years. To me it doesn’t really matter because I’m focused on my job.
"There’s going to be a lot of doubters, a lot of guys who are going to write us off. I think that is motivation, motivation for the team and then obviously everyone is going to look at the quarterback position and I look at that as motivation."In other Cardinals news, the team did play host to OLB Joey Porter(notes) and ILB Larry Foote(notes) on Thursday. Each has a history with coach Ken Whisenhunt, dating back to their time with the Steelers. Foote, who turns 30 in June, is seen as a possible replacement for Karlos Dansby(notes), who signed with Miami. Porter, who turns 33 on March 22, could bolster the defense as a pass-rush specialist. Foote told the Arizona Republic that the Cardinals are his first choice but that the Redskins and Steelers also remain interested.
The Cardinals also re-signed T Jeremy Bridges(notes) to a three-year contract Thursday, who gives the team an in-house option should LT Mike Gandy(notes) not return. If Gandy returns, Bridges would be in the mix at right tackle, along with youngsters Brandon Keith(notes) and Herman Johnson(notes).
